Services: Choose Newell

Newell designs, builds and sells the highest quality and lowest operation cost shredder. There is a common saying in the scrap recycling business all around the world which states: “Newell is shredder, shredder is Newell!” Newell is the pioneer in the scrap shredder industry. The original shredder manufacturing technology and almost every design improvement since that time have first been used in Newell shredders.

Newell’s achievement comes from:

Newell’s design focus on the quality and operation cost, not manufacturing cost.

1.NEWELL has been among the top ten scrap recyclers in North

Newell has been among the top ten scrap recyclers in North America and have operated more than 65 Newell owned facilities most of them equipped with Newell shredders, processing more than 1 million tons per year of shredded scrap. This provides significant motivation to keep making improvements as no one ever benefited more quickly by reducing operating costs.

Globally, Newell is the group that best understands shredder design, manufacture, and operation of the shredder.

Newell understand the purpose for a customer to buy a shredder is to use that shredder to generate the profit for their company. This is achieved by designing for the lowest per ton of output operating costs. This is achieved by reducing replacement parts costs, decreasing down time and increasing tons per hour.

Newell understand how important high quality and lower operation cost are for the shredder operator. Since Newell invented the shredder in 1961, Scott Newell has been operating and observing shredders running every day, so he can find and adopt anything that makes the process more efficient quickly. The Newell shredders that are built now are the end product of 60 years of evolutionary progress. Each time a new shredder is built, it contains the lessons learned from the previous time periods. Mistakes are corrected and design features that make improvements to make the machine more efficient are included. That is why Newell is and has always been the pioneer of shredder manufacturers.

Scott Newell has served on the board of ISRI, been an officer of the Ferrous Division and the Shredder committee. He has also served on the Shredder Committee of the BIR. His son Scott Newell III is the current Chairman of the Shredder Committee of the BIR.

In 2015, Scott Newell was given the Life Time Achievement award by ISRI in recognition of his many accomplishments and for his service to the industry. No any other shredder manufacturer knows shredder operation better than Newell. Every design and every component is created to increase the quality and reliability, of the shredder. Newell will not cut corners nor compromise simply to make the machine cheaper for the initial investment. So Newell’s technology is always the pioneer in the shredder industry.

Because of Newell’s special design, people will find the actual capacity of Newell shredder is, in many instances, up to 50% higher than other maker’s shredder when comparing the same size of shredder.

2. Newell’s quality

Newell’s quality comes from selecting the components for the shredder very strictly. Almost all components are made by first class companies in the world, like the electric control system are Rockwell from USA; motor control is MKS from Germany; Hydraulic system is Rexroth from Germany, Magnet system is Eriez from USA, etc. The combination of reliable design and high quality components brings the result of high performance and lower operation cost.

3. The initial investment

The initial investment may be higher to acquire the highest quality shredder but the lower operating costs will repay the difference many times over the life of the equipment. Shredding steel scrap is a very tough job. You invest more to get the high quality machine, then you pay less for the operation. The price difference can be easy get paid back in one year if you have enough tons to shred. Also a very important issue is the matter of reliable operation. Downtime is very expensive. So people should buy a shredder that work for you, not buy a shredder that you work for it.

4. Smart Shredder System (SSS)

Newell was the first to use computer controls and created the Smart Shredder System (SSS) which operates the shredder at a high level of efficiency and also provides management data to assist the management to adopt a policy of constant improvement. The SSS management data collection by Newell is based on the information required to operate the shredder plants more profitably.

The Newell SSS can save 30% of energy compare with the shredder that does have the Newell SSS system. This is accomplished by controlling the feed rate of incoming scrap so that the main drive motor is utilized close to its design limit.

The Newell SSS monitors the casting and parts consumption cost, predicts needed replacements and repair, and helps avoid large parts inventory and reduces shredder down time.

The Newell SSS can provide production reports, monitor the operation cost every day, and supply the management report to the manager on time. No matter where you are, you can easily get your shredder operation report in every seconds through our special designed APP. It provides a very powerful tool for you to get more economic benefits from shredder operation and management.

5. Newell provides very high quality after sales service.

Newell’s on line trouble-shooting system provide you a on time service in 24X7 hours; Because of Newell shredder components are all made by the first class companies in the world, so people can very easy to find the replacement parts in their local country. Also, a Newell experienced engineer can go to customer’s jobsite anywhere in the world in 2-3 days if it is necessary.

6. Newell is the No. 1 shredder supplier in the world.

You will not regret buying Newell which is the most popular brand in the recycling world. From 1960 to 2020, the number of shredders in the world continued to grow, there are now approximately 1440 shredders in the world, and Newell has proudly supplied or licensed many more than 2/3 of all of them, and the remainders are copies of older Newell technology.

The shredder machines which are manufactured by trying to copy Newell machines typically are not even good copies because the people doing the copying simply don’t really understand shredders. They see something but don’t understand why the design is what it is and when they cut corners to make a cheaper machine, many times significant errors are made.
